Polypropylene Woven Sacks

Polypropylene (PP) woven fabrics are gaining increasing demand in India & have attracted the eye of multiple end users as per their requirement especially in the packaging industry. PP woven fabric manufacturers have glued their vision, on its rising demand in form of multiple end products, such as sacks among others. PP woven sacks have widespread demand on account of their unresponsiveness towards the action of chemical, moisture, UV rays & factors pushing the attack of rotting & fungus. They are non-toxic, light weighted & have added advantages over the conventional bags. These sacks as per the packaging requirement are abundantly manufactured as either non-laminated or laminated woven Polypropylene woven fabric, and as per the statistics, sacks manufactured with LDPE/PP liner have predominantly wider applications & demand.

PP woven sacks are considerable stronger & are manufactured to withstand much greater impact loads due to the fact that HDPE strips elongation at break is nearly 15-25% in comparison to 30% of Jute. Also these PP woven sacks are cleaner & resist fungal attack than the jute. Furthermore, jute also carries the burden of unstable prices in the market as Jute is an agriculture product. Hence, these sacks have proved to be advantageous over other conventional sacks in terms of materials & competitive prices.

Further, in present scenario there is struggle for the adoption of PP woven sacks due to marketing glitches since the Jute packaging Mandatory Order of 1986. But the market is continuously witnessing a change in this pattern. The demand for jute woven sacks has been sluggish in recent past for multiple numbers of reasons. As witnessed, few years back manufacturers were using the technique of Flat looms for woven sacks. But, now these manufacturers have started to shift towards using the technique of circular looms, which generates higher productivity. Therefore, this has certainly helped in lowering the production cost; however due to lower resistance of jute sacks to chemicals & moisture, less strength & higher cost, most of industry players are observed to have been preferring HDPE/PP woven sacks for packaging.

In India packaging industry over the recent past years has become one of the fastest growing industries along with its influence on nearly every other industry, directly or indirectly, such as food & beverages industry, chemical industry, healthcare industry, fertilizer industry and various other industries. The Indian packaging industry has witnessed a compounded annual growth rate of 15.0% over the period of 2015-2018. Therefore, new trends and technologies are continuously evolving in the packaging industry including the wide application of PP woven sacks. India being an agricultural economy coupled with its fast expanding economy, the spending on packaged foods & agricultural produce packaging is predominantly increasing, due to rising per capita income of India population, urbanization and exceeding numbers of working women. On the other hand, India also possess huge growth potential since its per capita packaging consumption is only 4.3 kg whereas, in the neighbouring Asian countries such as Taiwan & China, the packaging consumption has reached nearly 19 kg to 6 kg respectively.

Thus it clearly indicates that Indian packaging industry is under penetrated and therefore offers large business opportunities to the PP woven sacks manufacturers in terms of continuous and increased supply of their products across multiple sectors of the economy. Even the Indian woven sack industry is regarded as one of the fastest growing segment of the total bulk packaging industry where it has registered a CAGR of 15.5% over the last decade.
